A very fine and tastefully ornate German Schuetzen rifle built by Gottfried Funk on a Kessler system Martini-type action. This rifle is in almost unbelievably fine original condition and is very elaborately relief engraved in addition to wearing spectacular stump-grained walnut stocks. A chamber cast seems to reveal that the rifle fires the 9.05 x 47.4mm cartridge, although I have never fired it. The 29" ribbed barrel is seven-sided in outside profile and has Metford-type rifling inside. Its condition is excellent. The top of the barrel has gold and silver filled engraving. The butt stock is of Bavarian pattern, is embellished with extremely fine checkering and wears an engraved double-pronged butt plate. The forend is equally well checkered and has a carved horn forend tip. The entire receiver and lever are fully engraved with shooting scenes and scroll and a brass ram rod is fitted in thimbles -which are dove tailed into the barrel. All three sights are present and the rear disc is the most elaborate I have ever seen; there are five sets of upper and lower apertures in different sizes for differing light conditions and different distances and there is a corrective glass lens sandwiched within the sight. The middle sight is marked for 120, 175 and 300 meters and the front sight is adjustable for windage. The entire rifle is in amazingly fine condition. *WITH RESERVE*
