Wildcat Kit. 8mm Winchester Short Mag. These kits consist of a barrel formerly used with a Switch-barrel rifle, in this instance a Model 98 Mauser (or F.N.), reloading dies for the cartridge, and some brass for the Wildcat. When Winchester first announced the .300 Short Mag., some died-in-the-wool Wildcatters modified the case for a cartridge they "knew" Winchester would never make. In this example, they were flat out wrong! This Kit is for a round identical to what later became the .325 WSM, which is simply the .300 WSM opened up to .325" The barrel-a 24" threaded and chambered chrome-moly E.R.Shaw barrel of medium sporter taper, fired, but still with much life -will fit any large ring M-98 Mauser type receiver. All the buyer has to do is be sure that the headspace is correct when installed on his receiver. Hornady reloading dies are included, as well 20 formed & fired cases and 30 new .300 WSM cases, that only need to be run into the sizing die to expand the neck. The 8mm (.325)WSM is suitable for virtually any North American large game, as well as African plains game. Much cheaper than buying a new gun!
