Civil War-era Model 1860 Ames cavalry saber attributed to Confederate officer Frank A. Bond, who served with the 1st Virginia Cavalry and 1st Maryland Cavalry. Bond served on General Stonewall Jackson's staff, participated in the Seven Days Battles, and was wounded and captured during the Confederate retreat from Gettysburg in July 1863. He later served as Chief of Staff to General Leventhorpe. Saber retains faint Ames maker markings and bears an additional 1860 stamp reportedly applied by a descendant during Civil War Centennial reenactments. Accompanied by a signed 2010 identification and provenance letter from Richard Armstrong of The Gallant Pelham Military Antiques, along with a signed family history from Bond's great-great-grandson, Richard Bond.
